About Us
Hi there! I am Aimee Rousseau from Vermont’s northernmost Lake Champlain Islands where the 11th generation of my family is lucky enough to still be living today.
When I was very little, maybe three or four, my Grammy who lived across the cowfield, set me up on a tall green stool at her drafting table with a paintbrush, little blue bowl of water and a mind boggling rainbow of watercolor paints. Really it was just to get little me out of the way while the grown ups bustled about before a big fancy holiday dinner. No one expected I would last very long with it, or be any good at it, but it was as though I was just born knowing how.

This was the beginning of a lifelong love of watercolors which began with paintings of little old villages just like the one on our island; but by spring I was painting dreamy underwater fish scenes, which led to trees as summer wore on. Wasn’t until I was nearly thirty that all those apples, hundreds of apples, and birds on a wire over and over and over began happening. And, it wasn’t until I was nearly forty that I began to paint anything from dancing armadillos, to the Alamo, to esoteric guitars!
Achievements as an Artist:
I graduated from Burlington College with a Bachelor of Arts. Twice I was selected to attend the Governor’s Institute on the Arts, have had illustrations printed in various publications, created the Children’s Art Exhibit for the Lake Champlain Celebrate the Arts, and was one of a very few artists selected in the Austin area to show their work in the 2005 Cooking Light Fit House! Three of my ink pieces hung in the Zen exercise room looking appropriately Zen.
Mission Statement
Paintings hold the power to uplift and transform the artist’s and viewer’s heart and mind through healing energy. I call this Transformative Art Therapy. Many of us have felt the soothing effect that beautiful art brings to our over-stressed lives. Art that captivates your consciousness becomes food for your spirit! Mother Nature, the divine creator of all beauty, weaves this sacred energy into her works. Through that beauty, your heart and mind can find profound transformation.
